The Bush administration is demonizing Iran's Islamic government. There can be no other reason than to prepare the American people for military action against Iran. Like the propaganda campaign against Iraq leading up to the invasion of that unfortunate nation, the current one is a mixture of half-truths and outright lies. Once Washington has decided to attack, Iran's compliance with U.N. resolutions will protect Iran to the same extent that Saddam's compliance with U.N. resolutions protected Iraq. One can only hope the American people and the Congress see through this (neo-) con game in time to avert another disaster.
