Tort "Reform," Texas Style
Jun 30, 2006 15:30 Filed in: Economics
A few years ago the Republican-dominated Texas
legislature enacted a series of limitations on
plaintiffs' ability to recover for personal injury
cases, including caps on non-economic damages and
changes in the way damages are calculated when more
than one party is at fault. The Texas Monthly has an
article on what it has meant for the average Texan,
which is not good. It has become impossible for many
injured Texans to get redress in the courts.
Mississippi is following in the footsteps of Texas.
Never have so many been bamboozled by so few.
Hurt? Injured? Need a lawyer? Too bad.
